Service and Sacrifice

If you want to know the Mormon mind, start with the Mormon mission where young men and women volunteer to sacrifice (2 years for boys and 18 months for young women) significant pieces of their lives to serve God and His Son, Jesus Christ, by losing “their lives in the service of their fellow men”. This service in “…God’s Mormon Army” defines not only the missionaries who serve, but also attests to the belief systems of their families and congregations. The volunteer is literally viewed as a soldier in “…God’s Mormon Army”.
